Planning approved for The Lake House

We’re delighted to announce that planning approval has been granted for The Lake House.

Located within the Surrey Hills AONB, this building is shaped by the area’s heritage and landscape. Drawing on local vernacular buildings, historic watermills and the contemplative architecture of Chithurst Buddhist Monastery, the design blends oak, clay tile, and sandstone with contemporary detailing to create a sustainable home rooted in its setting.

Beyond the building, the project forms part of an ecological restoration programme replanting ancient woodland, revitalising the Victorian lakes designed by Edward Kemp and encouraging native wildlife.

“The Lake House is conceived as a quiet, enduring presence in the landscape. It will act as a shelter from which to observe nature and a catalyst for restoring it,” - Tom Turner.
