West Sussex Farmhouse shortlisted for House & Garden Project of the Year

The Tom Turner Architects studio has been alive with excitement as we discovered that our West Sussex Farmhouse is just one of four projects to be shortlisted for the House & Garden Project of the Year 2026.

Working closely alongside our client, interior designer Harriet Anstruther, we approached the project with a light architectural touch, prioritising preservation over intervention. Rather than reworking the plan, we focused on quietly integrating modern services while allowing the building’s irregular geometry, historic fabric and layered past to remain fully legible.

The surrounding landscape formed an integral part of the project, with reclaimed materials reused to create terraces, walls and garden structures that feel embedded within the site and its agricultural history.

Through careful restoration and measured intervention, the farmhouse has been returned to a condition that feels coherent, enduring and closely connected to its setting, and it is a project we all feel immensely proud of.
